How do I print single-sided?

All university PCs default to printing double-sided.  This is to encourage a greener approach to printing but also to save you money (printing double-sided saves you 2p per 2 pages printed). However you can change your document settings to print single-sided by following the relevant instructions below.

Microsoft Office

These instructions are the same for all Microsoft Office applications.

  1. Click on ‘File’ on the toolbar and then click on ‘Print’.
  2. Please make sure the printer is set to ‘SafecomPullPrinter’.
    • You can click on the triangle next to the printer name to change which printer you are using.  If ‘SafecomPullPrinter’ isn’t available on the list please speak to a member of the Library Advice Team.
  3. Click on the ‘Printer Properties’ hyperlink which you can find underneath the printer name.
  4. Make sure the ‘Finishing’ tab is highlighted (this should normally be highlighted when the properties window opens).
  5. Untick ‘Print on both sides’ and click ‘OK’.
  6. Click the ‘Print’ button and your document will be waiting for you to print at any University printer.

  4. Change the ‘Duplex printing’ option to Print on one side.
