What accessibility facilities are available in the Sheila Silver Library building?
AccessAble provides detailed accessibility information about Leeds Beckett University campuses and buildings. See the AccessAble guide to the Leslie Silver Building (containing Sheila Silver Library).
Accessible entrance
Ramped access to the Library is available from the Woodhouse Lane entrance to the Leslie Silver building. There is a push-button operated door. For further details please see the AccessAble Outside Access (Main Entrance) page.
Access to the Library is via turnstiles, or an automatic gate for anyone who cannot access the turnstiles. You may need to check in with Library Reception. For further details please see the AccessAble Sheila Silver Library entrance page.
Toilets
Accessible toilets are available on all floors. You do not need a code or key to open the door. For further details including parent and baby changing facilities see the AccessAble Location of Toilet/Changing facilities page. The links further down the left hand menu of that page give detailed information about the toilet facilities on each floor of the library.
Lifts
The lifts are located at the rear of the library behind the stairs. For further details see the AccessAble Sheila Silver Library Lift page.
Height adjustable desks
These are available throughout the libraries to assist users with mobility difficulties.
- Electric desks have buttons under the front edge of the desk to control the height.
- Manual desks are operated using a crank handle on the front of the desk. If you need assistance please ask Library staff.
There are also two short videos demonstrating how to adjust the height of electric and crank handle desks.
