What is research impact?

Research impact is where research makes a demonstrable contribution beyond academia, for example to society, the economy, culture, health, the environment or people's quality of life.

Possible examples include:

  • Developing or changing the debate in your field
  • Influencing regional or national policy
  • Creating partnerships with business, organisations, charities, communities or key stakeholders
  • Engaging cultural institutions or the media to effectively communicate the outcomes of your research
