There may occasionally be a need to opt-out of Rights Retention (RR), for example in the case of Intellectual Property restrictions arising from commercial contracts or co-authored papers where collaborators may have objections to applying a RR statement. Authors must confirm that opting out of RR does not cause the research output to be non-compliant with funder policies.
