Why is it important to save my work?

It’s very important to save your work as data can become corrupted, hardware can suddenly cease to function and it is very easy to accidentally overwrite or delete an important file.

We recommend using your Leeds Beckett OneDrive account as this offers protection against these risks.

Providing you open a file from OneDrive it will automatically save your work regularly, ensuring you only ever lose a small amount of work if the device you are working on shuts down unexpectedly. It also maintains a historical record (version history) so if a file does become corrupt you can recover an earlier version from OneDrive.

We do recommend saving a back-up version of important files somewhere else, such as your University P Drive or a physical drive, such as a USB memory stick; just for peace of mind.

If you are not using OneDrive we recommend saving your work every 10-minutes. We don't recommend using a USB memory stick as your primary saving location as there is a greater risk of file corruption and they are easy to loose.
