Microsoft Outlook sorts your emails into two tabs: Focused and Other. The Focused tab allows you to highlight messages from people you interact with on a regular basis. However, this means that you need to check both tabs to view all new emails.
To stop Outlook from sorting your emails in this manner, please follow the instructions below. There are instructions to change these settings in your browser and on your iOS or Android device.
Changing the settings in your browser
- To change these settings in your browser, first login to MyBeckett and scroll down to the Library and Student IT section. Select Access your Email, OneDrive and Office 365 Portal, this should load your Office profile. Choose Outlook on the left-hand side.
- Once you are logged in to Outlook, click on the cog symbol in the top right hand corner.

- A Settings search box will appear. Begin to write 'Focused inbox' in the search box. An option to change the Focused Inbox settings will appear. Click on this to adjust your settings.

- Click on Don't sort messages and then Save. Your Focused Inbox is now turned off.

Changing the settings on your Android Device

- Scroll down until you find the option called Focused Inbox.
- Click the blue button. It should slide left and turn grey. Your Focused Inbox is now turned off.

Changing the settings on your iPhone Device
- Open the Outlook app and click the Office icon in the top left hand corner, then the settings cog in the bottom left corner.
- Scroll down until you find the option called Focused Inbox.
- Click the blue button. It should slide left and turn white. Your Focused Inbox is now turned off.
