What happens if my loans become overdue or I lose them?

If your items are overdue, you will receive an email notification to your University email address.

You will receive overdue notices if:

If an item becomes very overdue or you lose them, your account will be blocked and any other item(s) on your account will stop autorenewing.  After a further 14 days you will be charged the replacement cost and you will be unable to borrow any more item(s).

  • We will contact you via your University email account when your item(s) are overdue and when replacement costs have been added to your account.
  • If the item is subsequently returned, the replacement cost will be removed from your account. Please see the FAQ "How do I borrow and return items?"
  • If you lose or damage anything you have borrowed from the Library, please tell Library staff as soon as possible.
  • If you need to pay for an item you have lost, please see the FAQ "How do I pay for an item I have lost?" Please note that once an item has been paid for, if it is subsequently found we are unable to issue a refund.
  • We are unable to accept replacement copies of items.
  • It is your responsibility to know when your loans are due and to return them on time.
  • You can check your Library account via Discover under My Account.
  • Please contact us if you have any queries or problems.
