Can I merge videos using Clipchamp?

Yes, one of the advantages of Clipchamp is that you can use it to merge multiple videos into one file. Here is a link to Clipchamp's guide to merging videos, or you can follow the steps below.

  1. First, create your videos.
    • Tip: If you are using a mobile device to create the video recordings, some phones (e.g. Google Pixels) may save the recording as a ts.mp4 file which is not compatible with Clipchamp. The recording will need converting to a .mp4 file.
  2. Upload the recordings to your University OneDrive account.
    • Tip: You can do this via the OneDrive app if you have installed it on your phone, or transfer your files to a computer.
  3. Open the Clipchamp login page and click Sign in to Clipchamp for work or school accounts. Use your University log in details to sign in.
    • Tip: If you are already logged into your University Microsoft account, you can find Clipchamp by clicking Apps in the left-hand menu.
  4. Under the Create New menu, click Video Project.
  5. This will open Clipchamp in a new window.
  6. Click Import Media and select files from device. You can also drag and drop files if you prefer. Clipchamp should guide you through the steps.
  7. Drag and drop the uploaded videos into the project timeline.
    • Repeat the steps above for each video recording, dragging and dropping the videos in the order you wish them to play.
  8. You can click on a video clip in the timeline and move it left and right, it will be highlighted purple if selected.
  9. You can right-click and select Delete if you want to remove a video.
  10. To delete part of the video, move the slider to the relevant position and click the Scissor (Split) icon.
  11. Click on the video section you want to delete, right-click and select Delete.
  12. Once you’ve finished merging the video recordings you can preview the full version by clicking the Play button.
  13. When you have finished editing the video click Export in the top right.
  14. Select the quality/size of the file (smaller files are faster to export).
  15. Add the file name.
  16. Select the folder/file location where you would like to save the finished video.
  17. Click Export.
  18. When finished you will see a number of options to share or save your video. If you have been asked to submit the video for assessment, please follow the instructions provided by your module team.
