What is a publisher embargo?

An embargo is a period of time during which access to scholarly work is restricted by the publisher to institutions or people who have paid for access and is typically between 12 - 36 months, although this can vary.

After the embargo ends, the author accepted version of the scholarly work can usually be made available to view and download from a repository like the Leeds Beckett Repository, although this is at the discretion of the publisher. Please contact the Research Services team if you would like help finding a journal or publishers' embargo.
