You can choose to send your research outputs from Symplectic to your ORCID account and vice versa.
How to configure what information is sent to your ORCID account:
Login to Symplectic then from the Menu > My Profile > Settings > ORCID Settings
- New to ORCID? Click Register or connect your ORCID iD to get started.
- If you've previously connected your ORCID, select Reconnect your ORCID iD to refresh the connection and click authorise access
- Choose the level of access you wish to grant Symplectic and ORCID
-
If you choose the full Read/Write you need to select which publications are sent.
-
For journal articles, send 'published' and 'published online' only: If you wish to display outputs that are "in press," do not tick this box. Any updates made to output information in Symplectic will automatically reflect in ORCID.
And you must select one of these two options:
- Send all publications to ORCID, including those with private or internal privacy levels: Currently, Symplectic marks all outputs as internal by default. If this box is not ticked during setup, your outputs will not be sent to ORCID.
- Only send favourite publications: This option allows you to selectively decide which outputs are sent to ORCID and simultaneously appear in your current staff profile. If there are outputs you prefer to keep private for now, please don’t mark them as favourites. For more information see the FAQ on favouriting outputs.
- Click Save
- If you have new outputs to send, you can choose to instantly send your outputs with Sync now, or they will be sent within a few minutes when Symplectic updates.
- Finally clicking Send Affiliation will add Leeds Beckett to your ORCID profile, verifying your association with the institution.
