How do Distance Learners borrow and return Library items?

Borrowing

  • Sign up for Distance Learner Postal Loans
  • Go to Discover
  • Sign in and search for the book you need.
  • Click on the title and select Place Reservation.
  • Click Submit.

Important information

  • You can reserve 10 items at once, when these 10 items are issued you can request a further 10 to get your full allowance of 20 items.
  • After placing a reservation, it takes about 7 working days to receive an item; check your Library account to see when books were issued for posting.
  • Books are dispatched using Royal Mail Signed For™ 2nd Class delivery for UK addresses and Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed for mainland Europe; you will need to sign for your item upon delivery.
  • Items are your responsibility until returned.
  • If someone requests a book you have on loan, you will receive a notification to your University email address asking you to return the item within 14 days.
  • Distance Learners can also use Request It! to request books and articles not in stock.
  • We will post items to the address on your Library record, please advise library@leedsbeckett.ac.uk if you change address.

Returning

  • We provide free postage for sending books to you; however, you are responsible for return postage, or you can return books in person to either of our Libraries.
  • Each item comes with a return address label; use Recorded Delivery for safety.
