How do I take an Online Blackboard Test in an Ultra Module?
Ultra is the new view of MyBeckett modules, if your module does not look like the instructions below then please refer to our MyBeckett Original module instructions on how to take an online blackboard test/exam .
Before you begin
You will need to locate your test/exam within the module, if it has a due date it will also appear in your Activity Stream and Calendar. You can also find tests in the Course Content page.
You may need an Access code for your test/exam - your tutor (or a proctor) will provide this to you before the test. After you type the code, you can open the test.
After you select a test within your Module, the Details & Information panel will appear. Here you can view the due date, number of attempts allowed, the time limit if imposed, and possibly a rubric for grading (if included by your tutor).
Taking the test
When you are ready to begin, click View assessment (no time limit) or Start attempt (with a time limit).
When you select View assessment you can just view the test or add some work. If you're not ready to submit, click Save and Close. If your tutor has added a time limit you will instead click Start attempt and a pop-up window will appear to start the timer. If you're not ready to start, click Cancel.
When taking a timed assessment you will receive notifications throughout the test telling you how much time you have left to submit your work. The timer will keep running, even if you're not actively working on the test. If you save a draft or leave the test window, the countdown will continue and your work will be saved and submitted when the timer is up.
During the test you can use the Questions Filter menu at the bottom of the page to navigate easily between answered and unanswered questions, view essay questions and view any extra credit questions, if present.
Your answers will be auto saved once you have finished typing them. Every time an answer has been auto saved, you will see a Last saved notification at the bottom of the assessment.
When you are ready to submit, select Submit. If you try to submit a test with unanswered questions, an alert will appear showing the number of unanswered questions. You can decide whether to submit the test or keep working.
Connection issues
If you lose your connection to the internet, you will receive a Connection lost warning. Do not refresh the page or use your browser back button. The warning will disappear after 20 seconds.
If your connection has not been restored by that time, another warning will let you know that your most recent work wasn't saved.
Your work will auto save once the connection is restored.
