What accessibility facilities are available in the Sheila Silver Library building?

Accessible entrance

Ramped access to the Library is available from the Woodhouse Lane entrance to the Leslie Silver building. There is a push-button operated door.

Access to the Library is via turnstiles, or an automatic gate for anyone who cannot access the turnstiles. You may need to check in with Library Reception.

Toilets

Accessible toilets are available on all floors. You do not need a code or key to open the door.

Lifts

The lifts are located at the rear of the library behind the stairs.

Height adjustable desks

These are available throughout the libraries to assist users with mobility difficulties.

  • Electric desks have buttons under the front edge of the desk to control the height.
  • Manual desks are operated using a crank handle on the front of the desk. If you need assistance please ask Library staff.

There are also two short videos demonstrating how to adjust the height of electric and crank handle desks.
