What accessibility features are available for Bibliu eBooks?

Texthelp Read & Write software (which is installed on all Library PCs) provides accessibility tools (see the Library website Software page for more information).

The eBooks can be read online. It is not possible to download them.

How can I have an eBook read aloud to me?

Inbuilt text-to-speech tool:

Go to the page that you want read aloud and click on the Text to Speech button  in the top right-hand corner. The Text to Speech bar will open at the bottom of the page which allows you to adjust the voice, speed, skip to the next or previous paragraph and pause.

How can I change the font colour in an eBook?

In addition to the specific instructions below, you may also be able to change font colours using your web browser or operating system settings.

Inbuilt font colour options:

Click on the Settings button   in the top right-hand corner. From there you can choose from three pre-set styles: White, Sepia or Dark.  Or to choose your own colours select Custom Colors then click on Text to select a text colour.

How can I change the text size in an eBook?

In addition to the specific instructions below, you may also be able to make text on your screen appear larger using inbuilt features of your operating system.

Read online:

Inbuilt zoom options:

Click on the Settings button   in the top right-hand corner.  Move the slider to change the zoom level.  When you change the zoom level the text reflows (automatically adjusts to fit on the page at the new zoom level).

Browser settings:

You can change the zoom level of the whole web page using your browser. To zoom in, press Ctrl (Windows) or command (Mac) and the + key. To zoom out, press Ctrl/command and the - key.  Press Ctrl/command and 0 to set the zoom level back to default. When you zoom the text reflows (automatically adjusts to fit on the page at the new zoom level).
