How do I register for MFA with my mobile device?

You will be asked to register for our multi-factor authentication (MFA) service the first time you log into a university system. Alternatively, please register for MFA here. While we recommend using a laptop or desktop device to register for MFA, it is also possible to register using just your mobile device, by following the below instructions.

  1. Sign in using your Leeds Beckett student email
  2. You will be transferred to a single-sign-on screen
  3. Enter your student email and password (the same one you use to log into MyBeckett)
  4. You will be advised that we require additional information to access your account
  5. You will be asked to download the Microsoft Authenticator app. Once you have downloaded it click Next, you DO NOT need to sign into the Authenticator app.
  6. Next, select Pair your account to the app by clicking this link. The MFA app will then open and automatically add the account.

  7. Once this has been done, return to the previous screen and select Next
  8. You will be asked to approve a test notification on the Authenticator app. This will then happen every time you are required to authenticate in the future.
  9. Now you can add your mobile phone as a second authentication method

You are now set up! You can view or change your chosen authentication methods if you wish and if you have issues setting up, please contact the Library and IT Advice team.

If you change your phone/number at a later date, please contact the Library and IT Advice Team for an MFA reset. You'll then need to register again for MFA to add your new phone/number.
