How many people can look at an eBook at the same time?

Many of our e-book collections provide unlimited access to eBooks, enabling you to access the title whenever you need it. Whilst the Library will always attempt to provide unlimited access, some e-Books do have restrictive access e.g. only allowing 3 users to read a book at once.

If the book you are trying to access is already in use by the maximum number of users, you should get a message alerting you to this, in which case you will need to try again at a later time. Alternatively, you can enter your email address to get an alert when the title is available to read.

Some example messages are below.

VLEbooks:

Reserve Book No licences currently available. Would you like to reserve this title?

Proquest Ebook Central:

Your institution has access to one copy of this book.

For guides related to a specific eBook platform, there is an FAQ on VLEbook reservations.

There is also an FAQ on Ebook Central reservations too.
